What it Was and What I Hope it Will Be

Today was July 4th. I didn't make plans because I had been told to expect to have to work. Happily, the work project fell through and I had the day to myself. I spent my 4th sleeping in, walking the pups, shopping for groceries, cleaning the apartment, and working out in the complex's gym. Not a bad day, but nothing special... and pretty lonely too.

I hope that one day I'll be spending the 4th with a family of my own. A husband grilling in the backyard. A kid or two splashing around in the pool. A sunburnt little family waiting for the fireworks to start.

I hope I haven't missed out on the opportunity to be part of something like that.

Awww. Sorry you were lonely. Don't worry. If that's what you want, it will come. Things don't always happen when we want them, but good things come down the pipeline at their own rate :)

Glad you got to enjoy the day

P.S. I always look forward to holidays with my family and they always end up falling way below my expectations- crabby husband, whiney kids, plans falling through, etc.

I really, really appreciate the honesty in your posts. I don't comment often, but I read every one. I'm sorry you were lonely, though. FWIW, I watched fireworks on TV and went to Target. Not exactly epic :)

I went through a lot of the same emotions on July 4. Hope things look up soon.

Thanks for your honesty. I was very alone as well.
