Help me Pick a Competition Dress

Because I'm a beginner and I'm trying to stick to a budget, my teacher and friends recommended that I rent a dress for my first ballroom competition.  The rental service I contacted has the following latin dresses available in my size.  Which do you like best?

Dress A

"Uh, that's pretty sheer, isn't it?" said a family member.  Wait for it...

Dress B

Really, it would be cheaper to bedazzle my bed sheet ;)

Dress C

But seriously, this over the top, bright and sparkly get-up is standard at this sort of event.  Of course I wouldn't wear something like this outside of the ballroom... which is exactly why this competition is going to be a lot of fun.  Because I don't want to influence anyone, I'll hold my opinion back for now.  I get to try the dresses on for size this Thursday and will get some input from my teacher.  Teacher's direction with regards to costuming has been "the more skin the better!"

I am the last person who should comment on choosing a dress for a latin dancing competition, but I'll speak anyway. I vote for dress A. Being a bit of an OCD, I will say the asymmetry of the dress is killing me but its the best of the three....and your teacher's comment made me laugh so hard that my stomach is aching now.

lol. when i responded to my teacher by saying i'd like to wear something more conservative i got a death glare in return. this ballroom dancing subculture is so quirky. so much sparkle, so little clothes, so much orange skin (from all the fake tanning products)!!!

I'm voting for dress A, as well. Dress C seems a bit, um, feathery, which would distract me from the dancing. And something about dress B just looks a little odd in the picture.
but really, go with the bedazzled bedsheets - ha!? (although you must have some bright linens to begin with.) Good luck!

I vote for dress A too. Dress B is too sheer and the feathers in dress C seem like they would get in the way of dancing.

Oh la la! Looks like a fun decision you get to make! Personally, I like that last one, the purple one with feathers, but all of them look like they could be great. It will probably come down to which dress you are more comfortable in or which one makes you feel the best. If you feel good in it, you will dance that way. If the dress doesn't make you feel good, it might distract you from dancing. So - I'm interested to see which one you prefer after trying them on this Thursday! You'll know which is best for you. Hope you'll share the final outcome! I'm so excited for you, whatever you wear!

Dress A, for sure. Dress B is a lot for your first competition in a bronze division, and you want to make sure that the level of dress and the level of dance are similar. Dress C is fun but the feathers will make you look slow (because when you do, for example, a turn, they will turn more slowly than you and make you look sluggish). Dress A has a fun skirt that will show your Latin action to its best advantage - Dress B is the kind of dress where your leg action better be PERFECT. You will look so good!!! These dresses are fun!

thanks for the feedback everybody :)

@againstlineofdance: insightful! i have never seen a feathered dress in action and wouldn't have thought of its muting effect on my own.

i've also been polling a bunch of folks in person and over email. only one person has picked dress B so far!

I LOVE dress A! C is super cute, too. B, even with the shear, seems a little plain.
