Happy New Year!
I'll post my resolutions tomorrow, but I want to get started with my first project right away. In 2009, I challenge myself to read 100 books. Casebooks, study guides, and E&Es will not be counted. Assigned course reading can be counted if I read the entire book (usually, I am only assigned excerpts). I am making this commitment as a part of my ongoing struggle to hold on to the pre-grad school passions that made "me" while muddling through the JD/MBA curriculum. As I start each book, I will update this post by adding the new book to my list. When I finish each book, I will attempt to write a brief response to the book or at least post a link to indicate that this list has been updated.
Please feel free to suggest your favorite books in the comments (I will need suggestions) or join the challenge yourself.
1. Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer
2. The Genius Factory by David Plotz
3. Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin
4. Imperial Life in the Emerald City by Rajiv Chandrasekaran
5. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
6. Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis

Nice project I must say, I have a laundry list of suggestions:
1)The Kite Runner
2)Made in Japan
3)Liars Poker
4)Surely youre joking Mr Feynman
5)Maximum City
Apparently you are a voracious reader, so you might have read some of them, will add on to it as they come to mind.
Cheers and Happy new year!
Last year I tried reading 50 books. I think I got to 30? Hmm. Once law school started reading for pleasure fell off the map.
I recommend Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpreter of Maladies which is just beautiful, and The Pirates! books by Gideon Defoe which are funny and short.
Wanted to stop in and welcome you to this challenge. If you haven't already, feel free to join us at the Yahoo Groups where others are participating in this challenge as well as others.
I have read Kite Runner, but none of the other books suggested so far. I'll add them to my list. Thanks :)
